November 13, 1814

New Orleans – British master spy Harold Lowe sends information to his brother with the British invasion force, Fleet Captain Geoffrey Lowe on Admiral Cochrane’s staff. The Americans are unprepared for an attack.

Meanwhile, Gérard and Matthew see their handiwork first hand as Gérard’s article about the Battle of Pensacola is read aloud in a crowded restaurant which concludes with – “Gen. Jackson sends a message to the people of New Orleans, ‘I am coming to save the city from the enemy’.”

Gérard and Matthew’s meal is interrupted by a tall man with curly, dark brown hair worn to his shoulders and dressed elegantly, like a gentleman, except for the rapier in the rakish, red sash worn around his waist. The man beckons Gérard outside where we learn this is the pirate king of Barataria – Jean Lafitte, who tasks his friend Gérard with arranging a meeting with Gen. Jackson as soon the general arrives.
