Spanish moss in another oak tree

November 8, 1814

The British holed up in Fort Barrancas slip onto to ships and blow up the fort before departing. Gen. Jackson informs the Spanish governor that if the British are allowed to violate Spain’s neutrality again, Jackson will come back, burn Pensacola and most likely hang the governor. Jackson then returns Pensacola to the Spanish and will take his army to New Orleans. He has succeeded in running the British out and denying them Pensacola.

Gen. Jackson's two heralds and journalists GĂ©rard and Matthew re-board Aleta to sail back to New Orleans.
