November 10, 1814
New Orleans – There is a long pause, as if the people and
the city itself are holding their breaths. New Orleanians try to maintain their
normal lifestyles. They have not accepted the simple fact there city will soon
be the most important city in the Western Hemisphere as the greatest naval
power on the planet will make a final stab at controlling the lifeblood of the
North American continent by capturing the mouth of the great Mississippi River.
